Come September the retirees that live in North East USA start preparing for the winter. People who are dedicated to the New York Area and the North East, value the seasons and look forward to seeing the trees change color to violent oranges, yellows and raving reds and then see the snow arrive and stay for the duration of the winter. But, oldsters whose creaking bones require a warming, turn into snowbirds.

These snowbirds are of a migratory bent of mind . To qualify to be a snow bird, you have to be firstly human, generally over 65 years old and you should annually fly to warmer southern climes, as the leaves in their summer hibitats start changing color.

That is with the advent of fall, the snow bird wing southwards. The wings are not their own but belong to new fangled airlines such as Air Tran, Jet Blue,South West etc.

I flew in to West Palm Beach yesterday evening and found the city well stocked with the snow birds. The average age of towns like West Palm, practically doubles in anticipation of winter. I generally prefer West Palm when there are not too many oldies around and so visit the city quite often in the heat of summer, because it reminds me both in the flora and the humid heat( though not as unbearable) of Chennai. However, here I am in Florida in snow bird time.

Lets see what the next 14 days have in store for me.
