Because Ganguly's performance in the IPL is less than exemplary ,Sourav Ganguly sallied forth, foot in mouth style:

"Let's not jump up and down too much at their performance in Twenty20. As a player, I'd love to see them perform in five-dayers and 50-over games. That's where the real test lies," he said.

"If you see my performance, I've scored more than 3000 runs in international cricket, which is more than any other Indian batsmen, ever since my comeback (in late 2006). But still I'm under the scanner," said Ganguly, the Kolkata Knight Riders captain in the IPL told a press meet.

Ganguly, however, admitted that captaining a Twenty20 side was different.

"Its different. It demands quick thinking. Captaining a Test side, you get a lot of time to make"

Sourav agrees that captaining a T20 side is very different from captaining a Test or ODI side, but he feels that T20 Players need to perform in Tests and ODI's before they could be considered noteworthy. If captaincy is different so is the type of cricket for ordinary players He is just showing off and showing resentment for constantly being under the scanner in tests and for being dropped in ODI's.

T20's are just a different genre of cricket and Ganguly with his average in the low 20's has not got the hang of it yet: he in fact is trying to parlay his success in the long form to justify being included as a great player in T 20's. Strangely enough his bowling in T20's is well above average. It is a different game Mr.Ganguly, wake up and smell the coffee and then take your behind to the crease and make some good scores instead of making such smart alecky remarks.
